I’ve always loved springtime, but seeing it in full bloom at Walt Disney World is a whole different level of magic. Every year, EPCOT transforms into a massive, incredibly vibrant garden.

To walk through all the pavilions and take in every detail, you’ll need at least one full day. However, I highly recommend setting aside two days. This will allow you to enjoy the delicious food, admire the incredible horticulture, and snap plenty of photos without feeling rushed.

One important thing to know: you don’t need a separate ticket for the festival. The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is included with regular park admission. Topiary Magic: Favorite Classic Characters

The main reason to visit the festival is the topiaries. Disney horticulturists work for months to create these unbelievable figures. I was immediately charmed by the classic display featuring Snow White and Dopey. The princess’s dress is made of fine-leafed plants that perfectly mimic fabric. The figures look three-dimensional thanks to varying shades of green, and the waterfront location adds a touch of fairytale serenity. With the lagoon in the background, it’s a picture-perfect shot.

Right nearby, you can spot the other dwarfs appearing as if they’re returning from a day at the mine. They carry lanterns and pickaxes, with bright glass “gems” scattered around them and flower beds filled with blue delphiniums and yellow marigolds. Even the dwarfs’ expressions are perfectly captured through the greenery.

No Disney trip is complete without the park’s biggest icons. Mickey and Minnie Mouse are dressed in their holiday best for a picnic, with Pluto running happily alongside them. With the Spaceship Earth geosphere towering in the background, this is one of the most popular photo spots, so expect a bit of a crowd here.

For those looking for a softer, truly family-oriented vibe, there’s a beautiful Bambi installation. The young deer, complete with light spots on his back, stands among wildflowers with Thumper and Flower the skunk. The monorail passing in the background creates a fascinating contrast between nature and futurism.

Disney classics are also represented by epic scenes. At Pride Rock, Rafiki majestically lifts baby Simba. Long brown fibers were used to create Mufasa’s mane, while Simba looks incredibly fuzzy thanks to a specialized type of moss. This is a very photogenic and moving location.

And if you’re a fan of DuckTales, Huey, Dewey, and Louie are sure to make you smile. Donald Duck’s nephews are hard at work in the garden, holding a shovel and rake near a large sunflower, surrounded by bright petunias.

Modern Heroes and Stunning Forms

The festival refreshes every year by adding contemporary characters. The scale of the Moana-inspired display is simply breathtaking. A massive Maui, featuring his magic hook and detailed plant-based “tattoos,” stands on white sand among tropical greenery, making you feel like you’ve been transported to the islands.

The integration of Pixar heroes has also become a wonderful tradition. Woody, Bo Peep, and Buzz Lightyear are gathered around a giant Pixar ball made of yellow, blue, and red moss. This is a very friendly area where visitors love taking group photos.

Topiaries aren’t just for people or animals—take a look at Lightning McQueen. The iconic race car is fully recreated from living plants. The horticulturists captured every complex detail: the number “95,” the “Rust-eze” logo, and even the spoiler. The car looks as if it’s zooming across a sea of red flowers.

The vibrant colors of Latin America come alive with the Madrigal family from Encanto. Isabela creates a floral arch, the powerful Luisa carries a heavy load, and Mirabel offers a welcoming smile. This installation is incredibly bright and perfectly captures the magic of modern Disney stories.

Of course, you can’t miss the symbol of EPCOT itself: Figment the dragon. He playfully pops out of a bed of purple and pink succulents with Spaceship Earth in the background. The large decorative flowers nearby make this one of the most recognizable views of the festival.

Cultural Immersion at World Showcase

Every pavilion in the World Showcase has its own unique theme. Near the China pavilion, the authentic architecture of the Temple of Heaven is complemented by wonderful panda topiaries. They play on the grass, and the contrast of black and white moss makes them look remarkably realistic.

In Japan, the focus is on education and botany with a stunning Bonsai exhibition. Miniature flowering trees on special pedestals are accompanied by informational plaques. This spot is filled with Zen-like tranquility.

Meanwhile, the France pavilion offers a sophisticated blend of architecture and floristry. Belle dances with the Beast in her luxurious golden gown. The texture of his fur and the flowing lines of her dress are impressive, and the view of the Eiffel Tower in the distance adds a touch of European elegance to the frame.

Decor Details and Spring Park Vibes

Beyond the massive figures, the festival mood is set by countless small details. As you approach the lagoon, you’re greeted by the official event banner featuring bright floral illustrations, confirming the grand scale of this spring event.

To keep the memories alive, I stopped by the Creations Shop. The official festival display featuring Spike the Bee offers plenty of limited-edition merch, including themed t-shirts and gardener Mickey figurines.

The general park decor is thought out to the last detail. Decorative pillars along the lagoon are adorned with hanging baskets of pink geraniums, while dozens of terracotta pots with petunias sit at their base, creating a seamless sea of color.

This balance between nature and design is perfectly visible near the famous cascading fountains. The crystal-clear water, with red floral islands floating within, looks incredibly refreshing against the backdrop of the monorail.

The best way to appreciate the park’s overall scale is to look out over the lake. The mirrored surface of the water, perfectly round floating flower beds, palms in the foreground, and the majestic Spaceship Earth on the horizon create the perfect picture of EPCOT in the spring.
