Right on Collins Avenue, at 18100, I found a place called Matryoshka Deli Food. This massive deli-market completely shattered my stereotype that Sunny Isles Beach only offers expensive restaurants with strict dress codes. It’s a true Eastern European culinary paradise hidden among the skyscrapers.

You must visit their hot food section. I tried the homemade stuffed cabbage (golubtsi) and bought some fresh Borodinsky bread—the taste was fantastic, just like a home-cooked meal. The dessert department deserves a special mention as well. Don’t leave without trying the chocolate-covered marshmallow (zefir) or their classic pastries.

The prices here are a pleasant shock. A portion of delicious stuffed cabbage will run you about $9.99 per pound. The contrast is striking: you can step out of a multi-million dollar condo and, within minutes, buy hearty, home-style food for pennies. It’s the perfect option for a budget-friendly and delicious picnic on the beach.

Nearby Upgrade: Aventura Mall & Eataly Aventura

When you want to trade beach relaxation for some activity, it’s only a few minutes’ drive to the mainland.

Right nearby is the famous Aventura Mall. It’s one of the largest shopping centers in the U.S., spanning 2.8 million square feet and housing over 300 stores. Even if you aren’t planning to buy anything, it’s worth a visit just for the incredible art installations and modern architecture.

Back in Sunny Isles Beach, I decided to just walk the city, as its infrastructure is very pedestrian-friendly.

Walking along Collins Avenue is a total pleasure. Wide sidewalks, cleanliness, and tall palms create a relaxed mood. By the way, during these walks, I always recommend opening the Groupon app. Thanks to it, I found some fantastic discounts on local water sports. Renting jet skis or going parasailing through Groupon is significantly cheaper and adds the perfect dose of adrenaline to a calm vacation.

Beach access in the city is expertly organized. There are 22 convenient public access points. I mostly used the Walter Bresslour Beach Access at 17875 Collins Ave. It has paved paths, showers, and a municipal parking lot located right behind the nearest Walgreens, which costs only $2 per hour—a true rarity for the Miami area.

Is Sunny Isles Beach Worth Visiting?
