Sweet Bites & Neon Lights: A Day of Decadence at The Venetian Resort

When we visited The Venetian Resort Las Vegas in January, it felt less like a hotel and more like a destination you could happily spend an entire day exploring without ever stepping outside. Between the seasonal décor, the sprawling shopping galleries, standout dining spots, and world-class entertainment next door, The Venetian delivers a full Strip experience in one beautifully designed space. Here’s how we recommend spending one perfect day at The Venetian in 2026, with personal tips we picked up along the way.

Morning: Shopping & Chinese New Year Décor

We started our morning inside the Grand Canal Shoppes, and it’s honestly the best way to ease into the day. The indoor sky ceiling makes it feel like perpetual late afternoon, which is especially welcome if you had a late night before. Our tip: arrive before 10 a.m. if you want photos without crowds—this is when the canals and bridges feel most magical.

Shopping Highlights (What We Loved)

While luxury brands dominate, we found that the smaller specialty shops are where you’ll uncover unique gifts and souvenirs. If you’re not planning to shop heavily, it’s still worth wandering for the architecture alone. One tip not listed anywhere: stop near the canal intersections—street performers often appear mid-morning, and it’s easy to miss them if you’re rushing.

Chinese New Year Décor at The Venetian Lobby

During our January visit, the main lobby was fully decorated for Chinese New Year, and it was one of the most striking seasonal displays we’ve seen on the Strip. A large horse figure—symbolizing strength, energy, and success—anchors the space, surrounded by gold coin and ingot-inspired accents representing prosperity.

What really stood out to us were the lush red and pink floral arrangements, which added warmth and freshness without overwhelming the space.

Red banners and hanging scrolls with traditional patterns frame the walkways, and the soft, golden lighting gives the entire lobby a celebratory yet refined feel. Our tip: take a moment to step back near the check-in area—you’ll get the best wide-angle view of the décor without people crossing your shot.

Afternoon: Dining at The Venetian

SUSHISAMBA (Light Bite or Drinks)

We stopped by SUSHISAMBA for a late lunch, and it’s perfect if you don’t want a heavy meal midday. The space is energetic but not overwhelming in the early afternoon. We recommend sharing a few small plates rather than committing to a full entrée—this leaves room for dessert later. Another tip: the bar seating often opens up before tables do, and the experience is just as good.

Donutique: A Sweet Highlight

Donutique was our favorite surprise of the day.

These aren’t just donuts—they’re artful, gourmet desserts that are as photogenic as they are indulgent.

If you’re visiting during peak hours, expect a short wait, but it moves quickly.

Our recommendation: ask which flavors are made fresh that day—they’re not always the same as what’s on display. It’s the perfect mid-afternoon break before heading into evening activities.

Evening: Entertainment at Its Best

Sphere

As the sun sets, make your way toward the Sphere, located just steps from The Venetian. Seeing it light up at night is an experience in itself—we recommend walking outside briefly just to take it in before heading inside. If you can, book seats slightly higher up for immersive shows; the visuals feel more complete from above.

The Wizard of Oz

We attended The Wizard of Oz experience expecting nostalgia, but were surprised by how immersive and modern it felt. Familiar characters are reimagined through cutting-edge visuals, making it enjoyable even if you’ve seen multiple adaptations before. Our tip: arrive early—there are visual elements worth exploring before the show begins.

KAMU Ultra Karaoke

To end the night, we headed to KAMU Ultra Karaoke, and it was the perfect high-energy finale. Private rooms make it feel comfortable even if you’re not a confident singer. One insider tip: ask staff about current promotions when you arrive—they’re not always posted.

How to Save Money with Expedia & Groupon

Luxury stays add up quickly, but we found real value by booking strategically:

Expedia: You can currently save 25% or more when booking 3+ nights at The Venetian Resort. Expedia members also unlock special member-only pricing, and bundling flights and hotels can save hundreds—sometimes over $1,000 per trip.

Groupon: Groupon often features 25% off multi-night stays at The Venetian, sometimes bundled with extras like reduced resort fees or dining credits. We’ve also seen flash deals appear midweek, so it’s worth checking frequently.

Bonus tip: both platforms occasionally offer discounts on local attractions, including Sphere experiences and gondola rides—perfect add-ons for your itinerary.
