One of the best places in Orange Country to have tons of fun for the whole family is the Pumpkin Patch at Irvine Park Railroad. The patch is open during all of October on Saturdays and Sundays only, so it is typically very crowded these days. To avoid the crowds and find the parking lot fast consider getting to the park as early as possible to be to first to get there when it opens at 10.00 AM. Otherwise be prepared to stay in the traffic jam for about half an hour or more and have a real quest to find the parking place. The park is located within the boundaries of Irvine Regional Park at the east end of Jamboree Road. Its address is 1 Irvine Park Road, Orange, CA, 92869. The park is open from 6:00 AM till 9:00 PM April 1st-October 31st and from 6:00 AM till 6:00 PM November 1st-March 31st. Parking fee is $3 on the weekdays, $5 at the weekends and $7 on holidays.
Irvine Park Railroadis very large and beautiful. There are several small ponds with ducks swimming around. Park guests can rent a pedal boat and explore the area in the open air enjoying the bank views.
Irvine Park Railroad is a great place for family picnics or celebrating special events, such as kid’s birthday. There is a football field and lots of open space to enjoy great outdoors.
But the biggest event of the year is traditionally the Pumpkin Patch. Here there are tons of attractions for kids of all ages, and the major of them is taking the train ride. Be prepared to stand in a long line to get to one of the train compartments, but if you are patient enough you will be rewarded with exciting railroad trip around the park. During the trip you will learn about the history the park and get a glimpse into most of the park areas. You can even spot live peacocks walking around or sitting on the tree.
At the end of the trip the train gets through the tunnel with the walls covered in web and huge spiders hanging from it. Spooky!
As the name suggests you will see lots of pumpkins of all sizes lying right on the ground. They are all available for sale and their price depends on its size. The bigger the pumpkin the higher its price tag is.
There is much fun about pumpkin weight, from Guess the Weight station to the winners of the largest pumpkin contest.
The pumpkin that won the second place weighs as many as 899 pounds. Unbelievable!
The Pumpkin Patch offers a variety of things to do for kids.
Activities include tossing the circles, riding the tractor, going to the hay maze, face painting and more. Every activity costs $7 per person.
Of course, there are many beautiful fall-themed locations that would become a perfect backdrop for the family photos.
It’s a great photo opportunity and you can make it even extra special if you take some personalized stuff with you. For example, my younger son took his personalized treat bag with him, and it looked just super cute on the photos. I purchased this treat bag last year at Personalization Mall and it still looks very nice.
I remember using Personalization Mall Coupon to save on my order and the purchase was not expensive at all. But now my son has got quality accessories and is ready to trick-or-treat in style!
He actually loved the Ghost Town built within the Pumpkin Patch and felt himself a real sheriff with his sheriff badge.
He was also thrilled to visit Ghost Town Haunted House where he saw many creepy things but didn’t get scared.
One of the most popular activities for the youngers park guests is John Deere Tractor Races, and the fun gets even more when there is a minor collision on track.
And don’t forget to buy some food here at the park. Snacks like hot dog are delicious and popcorn is out of this world. They make popcorn right in the park, so it’s always fresh, crunchy and just melts in the mouth.
Every year we visit Irvine Park Railroad to experience Halloween atmosphere and have lots of fun outdoors. If you haven’t been there yet consider visiting it until the fall festivities are over.
