With separate departments, recognizable brands, and frequent clearance pricing, the apparel areas feel almost like outdoor clothing stores within the larger Bass Pro Shops experience—another reason to browse even if fishing or hunting gear is not on your shopping list.

There is a surprisingly large selection of toys, including Bass Pro Shops-branded vehicles, playsets, LEGO, horses, and outdoor-themed gifts.
Another family-friendly section carries birdhouses, bird feeders, bird food, seed cakes, and build-or-paint bird kits—items that can be fun for both kids and adults interested in backyard wildlife.
That said, Bass Pro Shops is not a toy store or children’s attraction. It is a large working retail environment with sporting equipment, tall displays, and merchandise throughout, so younger children should be supervised closely while exploring.
Bass Pro Shops also hosts seasonal events and family-oriented programs at different times of the year, making it worth checking the Irvine store’s current event schedule before visiting.
How Much Time Should You Allow?
If you already know exactly what you need, Bass Pro Shops can obviously be a quick shopping stop.
But for a first visit, I would allow at least an hour if you actually want to explore the store. The 140,000-square-foot footprint alone gives you an idea of the scale.
Someone interested in multiple departments—or simply taking photos and looking at the displays—could easily spend considerably longer.

The timber architecture, giant department signs, scenic murals, wildlife displays, aquarium, and oversized product areas turn shopping into something closer to exploring an outdoor-themed marketplace.
You may arrive looking for one piece of camping equipment and end up wandering through fishing rods, lake-house decorations, footwear, grills, apparel, and an archery department before reaching the checkout.
