I thought I had seen it all in Las Vegas, but this winter has made me feel like a kid again. If you’re planning a trip to Sin City anytime soon, forget about the casinos for a minute. The real magic is happening at the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Gardens.

The first thing that strikes you is the contrast. From the outside, the eternal fountains of the Bellagio dance to Christmas classics, and the hotel itself shines like a beacon of luxury. But once inside, you’re transported back to the Victorian era.

The highlight of the season is a new exhibit at Bellagio’s Conservatory & Botanical Gardens called “All Aboard for Holiday Bells and Whistles.” And believe me, the name doesn’t lie!
It’s not just decorations—it’s a full-scale Victorian train station, made of real flowers and plants. The centerpiece is an incredible steam locomotive that looks so realistic that it feels like it’s about to blow its whistle and we’re off to the North Pole. It’s said to produce real steam, which certainly adds to the atmosphere. So get ready to be transported to dreamland.
Elves bustle around the train, and the giant carriages are decorated in such a way that you want to examine every detail. The attention to detail is impressive: acrobatic elves and carriages filled with gifts create the storyline of the exhibition.
Just think about these numbers: the exposition is illuminated by 110,000 LED lights, and the main Christmas tree (originally from Mount Shasta) is decorated with 8,700 ornaments. More than 20,000 poinsettias (“Christmas stars”) are planted around.
I particularly noticed the giant Nutcracker soldiers. If you get closer, you can see that their red uniforms are not fabric! They are hand-laid with 7,500 live carnations, and their headdresses are adorned with 1,000 red feathers.

The detail is just insane. On one of the cars, I noticed an elf hanging funny from the roof, probably trying to fix the presents on the go.
A Taste of the Holiday: Where to Eat with a View of a Fairytale
Right inside the garden is an exclusive location — The Garden Table. It’s a table stylized as a fairy tale house, where you sit literally inside the exposition.
- Brunch from Sadelle’s: $145 per guest (daily until 2:00 p.m.).
- Dinner from Michael Mina: $195 per guest (Tuesday-Sunday).
But if you, like me, want something simpler, look for the Peppermint Express cart. They pour their signature hot chocolate and sell fresh popcorn. It’s the perfect way to warm up while walking through the garden.
As you stroll through the Christmas trees, don’t forget to look up in the lobby. There is Dale Chihuly’s famous installation “Fiori di Como”. These are 2,000 handmade glass flowers that together weigh almost 18 tons! This is art that is available to everyone absolutely free of charge.
